Paper thin
She dreamed her feet filled with blood. The skin as thin as a great-grandmother's, brittle and transclucent, and when she pressed it with her forefinger, in the creases just above the sole on the inside of her foot, it crinkled then cracked and oozed dark red blood, thick like treacle. She dreamed she looked down at her feet and each foot -- the toes, the ankles, the heels -- was outlined in a blackened maroon faintly veiled with paper-thin skin.
