rattling a swivel chair
opening and closing noisy doors
shaking a heavy set of keys
scrunching and stretching clingfilm and plastic bags
rolling a multifaceted glass ball around letting it bang into a metal pole making wine glasses ring
pouring and splashing and dripping and changing and interrupting the flow of water from one recipinet to another
playing with my fingers on paper, leafing through a book and creasing a piece of paper
bird call
wind chimes
music boxes
various types of bell-like toys
a metal disc hung between metal rods of carying lengths, each ringing a different tone when struck
listening to the drones produced by ventilation vents, air-conditioning units, hand driers, hair driers, timers, dials and motors
radio static and digital frequency network interference
the sounds you hear when a speaker picks up a mobnile phone frequency
feedback
an old analogue oscillator keyboard creating stretches of quite simple insistent melodic rhythms, strong thick layers of static and noice and hiss and deep bass drones
talking, singing, humming, whispering, having an imaginary conversation in a made-up language
recording other people singing their own songs, taking into account the whole recording, the accidental, the complete experience of someone coming in, sitting down, talking, listening to the way they speak, to the inflection, and rhythm and tone of their voice
recoding for an arbitrary length of time, the length of a tape or an MD, for example, whatever happens, where I am, whatever I am doing. Doing this and listeining to the recording as it is being made, my sense of hearing heightened to a startling degree.
